Ask for scrimshaw heels and the universe shall deliver! Universe I would also like to find a jackpot-winning lottery ticket and George Clooney ready to commit.
Not to be outdone Proenza Schouler has some bonkers shoes, but in a good way. I kind of want number 7. I can only imagine the reaction if I wore them to work since the brown ankle boots cause quite the commotion.
Finally, I am in love with these Valentinos. I'd wear the black every day. I'd get them in white if I were getting married and had an unlimited budget. (Clooney, get on that please. I'll make it worth your time.) They're delicate, beautiful, classic. Sophisticated and girly at the same time. And while they're classic the spray of lace beyond the shoe up the leg gives a carefree, wild feel. Like ocean spraying on a rock. I have to admit, they do make me think mermaid, but in the best of ways.

Happy St Patrick's Day!
I didn't make corned beef and cabbage this year but I did make Irish Soda Bread, gluten free! I think it came out great, it tasted just like the regular recipe, as I remember it. Of course, I've had several different soda breads in my time so it's all about what you're used to. We never added caraway seeds or raisins in my house, and I have another recipe that calls for a lot of butter melted into the batter. Certainly that will not hurt but since I'm going to put butter on the slice anyway ...
If you have celiac's disease as well you may want to try this:
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp xantham gum
1/4 C potato starch
1/4 C sorghum
1/4 C corn starch
1/4 C soy flour
1/2 C arrowroot starch
1/2 C coconut flour
1 C tapioca flour
1 C rice flour
1 egg
2 cups buttermilk
Mix the dry ingredients well then add the egg and buttermilk. Mix well and pour into baking pan. Bake at 375*F for 45 minutes and enjoy!
I think this bread has a great texture and you wouldn't know regular flour wasn't used if you weren't told. I'm lucky to enjoy eating and making many types of food, it certainly helps when I can't find a traditional option!

Freak pleats
I've seen shirts and dresses like this one before which I think are hilarious. Was it made with the intent of putting your baby in that sling or is that more of an off-label usage? I have yet to see a version that's flattering. I think even the most Skeletor of us would look 3 months pregnant in this look.
Considering I can't handle a pleat, you might be surprised to learn I love the new trend in designer shoes by the likes of Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga and Proenza Schouler. Designers have discovered heels! Not heels in the sense of reaching for the sky but heels as a part of the shoe design. Different colors, patterns or materials from the rest of the shoe, alternative shapes---spirals, prisms, isoceles triangles---and different locations. Instead of putting the heel on the heel I've seen shoes with the heel on the instep leaving the heel itself unsupported. I have NO idea how it would be to walk in a pair of these (size 9 if you're buying) but aesthetically they look beautiful. I'm waiting for the excessively lacey, be-pearled pair with scrimshaw heels.

Comfort activities
I just returned home from visiting my mom and made some delicious potato leek soup with cheddar cheese. I love cooking and baking! It's made a little more challenging with my celiac's disease but it is a lucky thing that I enjoy being in the kitchen AND I enjoy most cuisines. Being in the kitchen is just as comforting to me as eating the food I create.
Oddly, also comforting is shopping. I've never been a major girly girl, due to lack of a good role model, but damn have I always loved shoes. I've branched out now to all fashion since I'm finally out of school and have a real job and can classify myself as 'not poor'.
I love the belt trend lately. The large cinch belts, obis and the like. I have a black cinch belt and a red obi and I love them. They spice up a button down and cardigan at work. I like the juxtaposition of the obi with western clothes. The hourglass shape classic to western looks can be achieved with a completely eastern garment. And I like adding edge to my business casual ensemble with a large black belt. Accessories are incredibly powerful; they can turn an outfit from day to night, elegant to quirky, boring to exciting.
I tend to go with elegant and classic looks over boho or funky. I like to have a statement piece, clothes that fit or are fitted, something I can blend in with and yet stand out. I suppose you can say I like clothes that help me stand out. Although, it may be their innate fabulousness that draws me to them in the first place.
What do you do with fashion, internets? My tip of the day: Give ankle boots a chance. They're not all as hideous as they seem at first!

New blogginings
Like many in my generation I'm going through my third-life crisis. A lifetime of being told anything is possible in America if you just apply yourself has left me wondering why, after applying myself, my life isn't what I had imagined it would be. Figuring that out should be amusing, should I tackle career or love-life first? How about neither and I go buy some shoes.
